:: Anne Heaton – music teacher ::
When did you first start knitting and why?
I started when I was a little girl and actually it was my dad that taught me. He learnt from my grandmother.
What do you enjoy about the knitting process?
Everything! The yarns – the way they feel and the colours. It’s so relaxing. It’s not necessarily about the end product. I rarely wear anything I’ve created but it’s the process.
What item that you’ve knitted are you most proud of?
Probably some lace. I just wanted to do it as a challenge – I like to have challenging things on the go. I normally have half a dozen. I currently have an Aran pattern with Celtic knots and that’s quite difficult. And now I’m crocheting which I’ve never done before but Jane has taught me how.
Do you have any knitting ambitions?
I’d like to make a crocheted garment.
When did you first discover Purl&Jane?
It was as soon as it opened. I have a friend who is really into knitting as well and she recommended it to me.
What do you like about the shop?
I love the feel of it. It’s so welcoming and Jane is so knowledgeable. All the yarns are so glorious.
Would you 1. Recommend knitting and 2. The shop to a friend?
I would recommend both to everybody!
