For this pattern you need:
Yarn & Amounts: One 50g ball of dk weight yarn (with 115m/125yds per 50g)
Metres/Yardage: approx. 110m/120yds.
My Yarn Suggestions & Amounts: Knoll Mohair Tweed or Merino Cotton or WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK dyed shades one 50g ball or
WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK natural shades or WYS Illustrious DK One 100g hank – there is enough to make two with one 100g hank or make to a wider/longer Catherine cowl.
Needles: 4mm circular needles (40cm length)
Tension: 22 stitches and 42 rows to 10cm/4ins square over pattern using 4mm needles.
Measurements: 50cm x 10cm.
Skill level: ♦ ♦ ◊ ◊ ◊ (if this is your first item knitted in the round) / ♦ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ (if you have knitted in the round before)
My design ideas and advice: Catherine is ideal for those who haven’t used circular needles before, to practice with as it only takes one 50g hank and is small enough to see results quickly. So great to use that luxury yarn you’ve always wanted to treat yourself to! It is also ideal for more experienced knitters who want to add a touch of colour to their outfit. The pattern is very versatile, it can be used as a neck warmer, ear warmer, or if knitted to half the length, a hair band!
